Aimee Ruiz, M.S. L.Ac. is a nationally certified and California-licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She received her Master’s of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Aimee specializes in women’s health, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. She has trained as a doula and taken pregnancy and birth classes with Raven Lang, OMD, a well known midwife and acupuncturist. She has also trained extensively with Claudia Citkovitz, L.Ac., in labor and delivery acupuncture in New York. Aimee is a member of Norcal Fertility Group, a coalition of Chinese medicine practitioners with advanced training in reproductive care for men and women, from pre-conception to delivery. Aimee teaches workshops on Qi Gong for Fertility and Acupressure for Labor and Delivery in the East Bay and San Francisco.
Before discovering Chinese medicine, Aimee studied and worked in psychology. She treasures the connections that Chinese medicine recognizes between our mind/spirit and our overall health and well-being. Aimee loves working with people suffering from addiction and psycho-emotional concerns. In addition to her private practice, she is currently the acupuncturist for Foundations Recovery Network in San Francisco. Helping people toward recovery and emotional wellbeing is a huge gift of this area of service for Aimee.
Qi gong (a branch of Chinese medicine) and meditation are important parts of Aimee’s wellness practice and she loves encouraging patients to utilize these amazing tools. She was first introduced to qi gong when her mom started practicing it after a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. These simple exercises transformed her mother’s health so dramatically that she was able to go off of her medication and her MS went in to remission. Witnessing this transformation was an experience that Aimee never forgot. Years later, Aimee met Daju Suzanne Friedman, L.Ac. who gave her the greatest gift possible and it’s the qi gong practice that she has today.
When she’s not practicing acupuncture or teaching, Aimee loves hiking, practicing qi gong and yoga, watching films, enjoying the amazing bay area food scene, and spending quality time with her loved ones. Aimee loves living and working in Oakland and is happy to call it home.
